Ambassador Andres Rozental is President of the Consejo Mexicano de Asuntos Internacionales (Mexican Council on Foreign Relations), a non-profit think tank created in 2001 with the specific objective of providing a responsive institutional framework within which various sectors of Mexican society can contribute to a better understanding of how the global context influences Mexico, as well as what the country's role in the world arena should be. He served as founding president of the Council from 2002 to 2006.

Ambassador Rozental was Mexico's ambassador to the United Kingdom from 1995 to 1997. He was a career diplomat for more than 35 years, having served his country as deputy foreign minister (1988-1994), ambassador to Sweden (1983-88) and permanent representative of Mexico to the United Nations in Geneva (1982-83), as well as in various responsibilities within the Mexican Foreign Ministry and abroad.

In mid-1997, he left government to establish Rozental & Asociados, an international consulting firm specializing in providing political and economic advisory services to both Mexican and foreign companies, as well as assistance to multinational enterprises’ Latin American corporate strategies.

Ambassador Rozental obtained his professional degree in international relations from the Universidad de las Américas in Mexico and his master's degree in international economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He also did post graduate studies at the University of Bordeaux in France. He is a part-time professor of international relations at the Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico and has been a member of the editorial board of the Reforma newspaper. Currently he is a member of the board of Foreign Affairs en Español. In June 2002, he was elected a member of the board of the Stockholm-based International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA) and is currently its vice chair. He is also a member of the Inter-American Dialogue and of the Pacific Council for International Policy.

From December 1, 2000, to December 31, 2001, Ambassador Rozental served as ambassador-at-large and special envoy for President Vicente Fox. He also served as a foreign policy advisor to President-elect Felipe Calderón during most of 2006.

Andrés Rozental is chairman of the board of directors of Mittal Steel Mexico, and serves as an independent, non-executive member of the boards of New India Investment Trust (London), Latinoamericana de Duty Free (Mexico), Aeroplazas de México and Fumisa (Mexico).
