Professor Castro is a member of the clinical psychology faculty at Arizona State University specializing in health promotion and health behavior change in Hispanic and other ethnic minority populations, including prevention and treatment of drug abuse and dependence. His research focuses on motivational aspects in the prevention of HIV infection, drug abuse, cancer, diabetes mellitus and other chronic degenerative diseases. He is also a member of an ASU research team that is studying the role of resiliency at the individual and community level in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
