Triumvirate: The North American Model Legislature

May 29, 2011 - June 3, 2011, Old Main and the University Club, Arizona State University, Tempe Campus

Following the third year of Arizona State University and NACTS's participation in the Triumvirate in June 2010 at the Querétaro Campus of the Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico, NACTS is pleased to announce that ASU will host the 2011 Triumvirate at the Tempe Campus.

Currently in its 6th year, the Triumvirate has lasting impact on future political leaders.  The event brings together 100 university students from Mexico, the United States and Canada to participate in a week-long simulation exercise simulating a parliamentary meeting between North American legislators. Student delegates are assigned one of the three roles: legislator (representing a country other than their own), journalist, or lobbyist.  The legislators will debate themes of a political, economic and environmental nature, while lobbyists will attempt to influence the legislators’ decisions and the TrilatHerald journalist team will analyze the evolution of the debates.

The 2011 Triumvirate delegates will address the following topics:

The Triumvirate is organized by the North American Forum on Integration (NAFI), a non-profit organization based in Montreal devoted to developing North American dialogue and networks. NACTS board member Christine Frechette is the NAFI executive director.
