About the Comissioned Papers:

Foreign Affairs Latinoamérica (FAL) will publish Spanish language translations of three NACTS papers from the “North
America Post-Bush” working paper series in its September-October 2008 edition.

FAL publishes both translations of English language content from the prestigious quarterly Foreign Affairs, and original
Spanish-language work. It is based at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) in Mexico City, one of
NACTS’ partner universities.

FAL will publish the following papers:

  1. “Deep Integration Post-Bush,” an editorial by Daniel Drache, associate director of the Robarts Centre; José Luis Valdés-Ugalde, director of Centro de Investigaciones sobre America del Norte; and Rick van Schoik, director of the North American Center for Transborder Studies. The editorial argues that “the continent is engaged in an unprecedented political u-turn creating new options and even larger policy challenges.”
  2. “Still Different,” by Michael Adams, founder of Environics, one of Canada’s leading marketing and social survey research consultancies. The paper explores the divergence of Canadian and American values.
  3. “North America’s Forgotten Agenda: Getting Development Back on Track,” by NACTS Director Rick Van Schoik, and NACTS Associate Director Erik Lee, which discusses development in Mexico.
