The North American Center for Transborder Studies has recently developed a report for the New Policy Institute’s 21st Century Border Initiative “Realizing the Value of our Cross Border Trade with Mexico.” The report serves as an introduction to a much needed national discussion on the real value of our commercial relationship with Mexico, as well as the numerous opportunities and challenges at our shared border.
As the export sector assumes more importance and the U.S. economy struggles to create high-quality jobs, our nation needs to discover every dollar of value in our relationship with our nation’s number two export market, Mexico.
Comisión Sonora Arizona Fall Plenary Session - Economic Development Committee
On February 9, 2012, Alejandro Figueroa presented NACTS newest report “Realizing the Full Value of Crossborder Trade with Mexico” to business, political and non – profit leaders from the States of Arizona and Sonora during the Arizona-Mexico Commission’s plenary session in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico.
His participation during this meeting consisted of a 30 minute talk, during which he depicted the current state of trade between the U.S. – Mexico and the opportunities that this represents for the Arizona – Sonora region.

"Realizing the Full Value of Crossborder Trade with Mexico" in Washington, D.C. Rick Van Schoik, Director of the North American Center for Transborder Studies (NACTS) at Arizona State University together with Michael C. Camuñez, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Market Access and Compliance discussed the report “Realizing the Full Value of Crossborder Trade with Mexico,” which was produced by the New Policy Institute (NPI) and researched by NACTS.
A webcast discussion based on the report was held on December 9.
